- Avoid contact with water, soaps, lotions and potions as much as possible. Gently wipe off any make-up or skin oil with a soft and clean cloth. You can also gently rinse jewelry and pat dry. Store your clean, dry jewelry in a small plastic bag when not in use. Exposure to the air will eventually tarnish all metal.
